The four other majors that I chose that are offered at Old Dominion University are Computer Science, Cybercrime, Cyber Operations, and Computer engineering. The closest one that relates to cybersecurity would have to be either Cybercrime or Cyber Operations. Cybercrime is a computer based major that focuses on the crimes committed with or through the use of technology. Students with this major are taught how to enforce the law in a way that uses technology. It is similar to cybersecurity because of the fact that both majors have to take similar foundation classes like math and basic technological classes. The next one would be Cyber Operations because students who chose to major in it have to study the operations of technical and non technical things in nature. Within the major they have to learn the entire scope of cyberspace and the related operations that make up the whole technical bubble of cyber. You could relate this to cybersecurity because of the fact that both professional fields blend into each other. Also in Cyber Operations it is a necessity to learn the ethical standpoint on a lot of technical based things which is comparable to cybersecurity. Computer engineering is a technical based field that works on the foundations of most things that relate to technology. These things consist of making code for things to run like programs or robots. This relates to cybersecurity because you cannot have a major without computer engineering. If there were never anything engineered that was made to be protected with a firewall or just any example of cyber security you would need computer engineering before anything else. Last but not least least is computer science. Computer science is the grand whole major for all things technological based. It consists of computer engineers but its more than just programming. It is the understanding of technology and all how it works and without that cybersecurity more than likely ceases to exist.
