I think that media does its best to make cybersecurity seem like something a lot more simple then it actually is. I would say that media is also trying to portray cybersecurity as cooler than it is. I think that cybersecurity is a very interesting topic and it has a lot of cool sub-genres, but its not as simple as “hacking into the mainframe” and you’re done. The understanding of cybersecurity is quite different then what it actually is because while it is cool, media will find ways to make it seem more interesting so they can use it to sell it. I couldn’t imagine that a solid amount of people want to see a movie about life of a day-to-day security analyst, but they would probably watch a hacker movie.
