About Me

My name is Alan Ewing. I am 24 years old and pursuing my bachelor’s in civil engineering. I am a sophomore at Old Dominion University and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Environmental Engineering Students Association. One goal I have had since high school was to commission into the Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps, so during the summer after high school, I joined the United States Navy. The Navy allowed me to travel to London, Bahrain, Singapore, and the Philippines. After serving five years on active duty, I separated with the intent to attend college. My wife and I were fortunate in that we did not have to move after I separated from the active component of the military. The courses I took during my first semester at ODU were PreCalc II, Spanish I, Introduction to Engineering, English Composition, and Human Geography. The courses I took during my second semester at ODU were Calc I, Spanish II, Surveying, Information Literacy, and Chemistry.
