During the summer of 2023, I started my first job in the field of music education; I was the Wind Instructor at Brooke Point High School for their band camp and marching season. After working with them in the scorching sun for two weeks, I received this message from Sarah, the saxophone section leader. It really made me happy that even if I was only there for two weeks, I could have such a lasting impact on a student. It also assured me I was doing the right things, and heading in the right direction.

The email above is what I received after my first jury back at ODU in the fall of 2020. After a 6 year absence from music, I worked hard to relearn my lost skills, and the new Director of Music at ODU took notice. He not only offered me a spot in the Wind Ensemble but also a scholarship.
