Learning Style

I start by taking notes from the posted PowerPoints, then I go back to review parts I don’t understand. To study for all my classes I listen to the professor and write down any extra information they give that isn’t on the PowerPoint. I use a variety of techniques to study outside of class. To study chemistry I find a topic I’m not proficient in and watch youtube videos. Those videos help a lot because they usually show a different way of doing an equation and they go more in-depth. I also find online practice problems to help reinforce what I learned. For sociology, I prefer to do the practice quizzes for each chapter. For history, I take notes and go over them a chapter at a time. I am doing well in chemistry. Doing practice problems and watching youtube videos work the best because it really reinforces what I learned and it is great for review so I don’t forget what I went over in class.

I am experiencing difficulties in history. To overcome this problem I plan to do practice quizzes. I plan on studying for two hours twice a week. I plan to take a 10-minute break after each 30 minute study time. Based on my current understanding I need to spend more time studying key terms. I am taking the course because it’s a requirement for my major, however, I am still struggling with my motivation to study for this particular course. I sometimes get confused about the due dates for assignments and I plan to clarify that by writing out due dates ahead of time. Giving myself enough time to study the material helped me do good on my exams. Trying to cram about 3 chapters of course material in about two days didn’t work out well so that’s something I’ll have to stop doing. To get a better understanding in class I could try reading critically. Outside of class, I can try to form a study group.
