End of the Semester Reflection

I think I have grown from the beginning of this semester because I can handle the stress of the coursework better than I did before. My expectations for this semester were to get good grades. So far I am meeting my expectations. I have no C’s in any of my classes. Something that I wish I knew 14 weeks ago was to pay more attention in class. Most of the time I have to put in my time studying because I may not have been completely listening during the lecture that day.

I spend less time studying for each class now versus at the beginning of the semester. I usually wait until the professor posts the exam objectives before I start studying. This helped me because I’ll know exactly what to study for before the exam. I plan to use the tutoring center more next semester. I will be taking math next semester so I plan to use youtube videos to reinforce the concepts we go over in class. For other classes, I plan to pay more attention during class because I tend to understand the professor’s lecture more than the PowerPoint slides.

Sociology and history were tied together by the topic of war. In both classes, we talked about the Vietnam war and how public opinion plays a role in wars. I found it beneficial when we had guest speakers come into the health professions class. During this time the presenters would talk about their careers and why they got into them. They also shared that not all health care workers have to be involved in direct patient care. This gives people options in case direct patient care may not be for them.
