Dear 449W:<\/p>\n

You taught me that there is more to becoming an SLP than anatomy and background knowledge. I now know that metalinguistics plays a crucial part when assessing a patient. Personally, I have gained a better understanding on how to incorporate the proper usage of metalinguistics to help me in the future when talking to other professionals. I learned the importance of SOAP notes and how they play a role as a clinician and as a student!<\/p>\n

Now, for me, writing will consist of paying much more attention to detail. I will continue to use The Syntax Handbook as I finish out my career as a student and eventually a professional.<\/p>\n

Becoming an SLP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Becoming an SLP is no easy task<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is that, do you ask?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, anatomy plays a big role<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We use our brains to help clients meet their goals<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowledge is ultimately the key<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We must get our master\u2019s and claim our CCC\u2019s!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We work with people every age<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apraxia, dementia, dysphagia<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People within every stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A plethora of settings we can be in<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best field to get your degree in<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Say, a baby with aphasia\u2026you\u2019d think there\u2019d be no hope<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With hard work, dedication, and building relationships<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do more than just help them cope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An older gentleman with Parkinson\u2019s Disease<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do our absolute best to ensure they are at ease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh how rewarding it will be<\/p>\n\n\n\n
