Cybersecurity, Technology, and Society
What have I learned? A brief summary:
Cybersecurity is interdisciplinary. It is not one sole discipline but a mix of multiple disciplines that come together to feed one common goal. This class has taught me the basic fundamentals of frameworks and cybersecurity best practices that are commonly adopted in todays society. I have learned about social engineering, the basics of cryptography, identity management, risk management, SCADA systems, firewalls, common cyber threats, and cyber crimes that we all face today. This class has opened my eyes to the fact that cybersecurity is not just one set discipline, it is a mix of criminal justice, psychology, criminology, economics, engineering, and much more. The common goal is to secure our networks and systems from vulnerabilities and threats but to also understand the mindset behind the offenders that commit acts against these technologies.
