Article 5

This was actually a blog post we had worked on after covering the chapters I believe it was either 4 or 5 but it was about music and people. I am a huge music person and I always have been but this was a very different way to think about it. I remember talking to my parents at dinner (we have Sunday night dinner as a family, everyone goes to my parents house) and they were saying how smart that is and how much music really does play into our relationships with other people. We hear a song and feel connected to someone such as mom, dad, husband but we also feel a connection to that artist who is singing and possibly wrote the song. Human connection is a huge part of social psychology and honestly in my perspective that is what it is all about because you that is how we interact and simply live life everyday.

Artifact 4

We had to complete an efficiency quiz in the beginning of the semester and I do believe they should make you take this quiz at orientation freshmen year because it would be a game changer and life saver. The transition between high school and college is the HUGE because you go from having your teacher hand out a practice test which is the actual test to the next year not handing out a single sheet of paper because he just stands and lectures without a power-point for an hour and a half. Yeah its a big change and most students simply cant acclimate themselves by the time finals come around and they just want to pass the class. This assignment was kind of like a review for me simply because I had already figured this out since I’m a senior but for underclassman I’m sure this was beyond eyeopening. Some learn it sooner than others but if the university required it at orientation I believe the gpa’s of the freshmen class would be much higher.

Artifact 3

When we got into stereotypes I knew I would be all about it because I find them so extremely fascinating yet annoying. However the one thing I learned in this section is that all stereotypes are negative which is something I was unaware of because usually when you think about or hear the word you get this negative and sometimes defensive opinion about the situation. I would like to however change the stereotypes we have about people but unfortunately I do not believe that is possible because we as humans are responsible for creating them MANY years ago I mean probably since the beginning of time. I do feel that millennial’s are not giving into their stereotypes as much as previous generations because they are all about proving people wrong anyways. We see just as many females graduate with their PhD’s as we do males now which is amazing because it wasn’t that long ago women weren’t allowed into those programs. That is just one example of how we are making a positive much needed change.

Artifact 2

I thoroughly enjoyed the love questionnaire! I learned so much by doing that assignment not only intellectually but personally. I reflected upon my past and current romantic relationships and I basically laughed out loud because the questionnaire was spot on with who I am as a
“Lover” and how I love. I never thought imagined that there were so many types of love because I just knew love in general terms but the definition of each were very interesting. This assignment put things into perspective for me and allowed me to finally close some chapters of my life because they were simply not meant to be. I swear this class just makes you analyze every aspect of your life which is super cool.

Artifact 1

My favorite assignment I have ever completed was in this class. It was the last assignment but it was well worth the wait. I swear I feel as if it made me a new and better person. People don’t understand how rewarding it is to give something to someone and that doesn’t have to mean something materialistic. It can be as simple as a smile but that one smile you gave someone could turn around their whole day. Society has made us overworked, impatient, and demanding people which is so unfortunate but this assignment reminded me what was really important and that is being a kind person and spreading love and compassion. All of those other things can wait so I reworked my priorities just in time to actually enjoy this holiday season with my family.
