Hey everyone! My name is Cody Fite and I this is my last semester at ODU and will have finally earned by Bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in human services. At RCC, where I graduated from with my Associate’s degree, social psychology was available but I never had room in my schedule to take the course. I have always been fascinated by the dynamics of social interaction, our understanding of each other, and how we process the various influences on our perception. We are living in a time period where we are somehow more connected than ever but more isolated, and I think it is important to learn more about social psychology at this time in our history.
Currently, I work as a Clinical Assistant at a local practice surgery clinic in order to afford my living expenses and to help reduce my student loan debt. After earning my Master’s degree in this field, I plan on searching for a full-time job as a LCSW or a school counselor. I have had plenty of lackluster guidance counselors in my educational career and they have inspired me to become one myself to better connect with students and help them achieve their goals in life.
My personal hobby is taking care of a growing family of rescued hermit crabs in a 150-gallon terrarium. My other pets include my cats, Juno and Elijah, my aquatic turtle, Indigo, a tropical fish aquarium, my Corgidor (corgi / black lab mix) Eva, and my Beagle Pekingese mix, Zeke. If you ever want to meet up in Newport News to study or work on assignments do not hesitate to reach out to me! I look forward to learning about social psychology with you this semester.
