African American Criticism Application

I felt Langston Hughe’s poem “Theme for English B” was a good fit for African American Criticism because he struggles with double consciousness in this piece, stuck between life with his white peers in school and his African American peers at home in Harlem. It shows that someone does not have to be mixed raced at all in order to struggle with double consciousness, it is all to do with the environment that they are in.
