Hello! My name is Maggie Fluharty and I am an English student with a focus in education at Old Dominion University. I am a senior on the Women’s Rowing team and will be graduating in Fall 2020. I am originally from Washington State, but plan to stay in Virginia to teach.
Once I am finished with my undergraduate degree, I plan on furthering my education with a masters in teaching English while I work as a Graduate Assistant for the rowing team. Beyond that, my goal is to teach High School English.
Along with being a very enjoyable class, I know I will be able to carry this Critical Theory class along with me in my teaching toolbox. I am looking to stretch my student’s minds and have them thinking in different, productive ways so I believe introducing them to lenses through which they can analyze the texts they read is very important.
