In my talk abroad conversation, my partner’s name was Flaminia Salvy and she was a good partner to have that came from the country France. I plan to use this conversation as a way of showing my growth after my first talk conversation. I can say my improvement upon the language has been maintaining a little, the reason I say this, is because I hesitate in the questions my partner asks, and I didn’t have the confidence in responding clearly to them. In preparation of my conversation, I wrote my responses on my paper assignment and practice my conversation with a tutor I found at the language learning center. Though I prepared well for my talk abroad conversation, I could have practiced more by attending more tutoring sessions and think about more possibilities on the type of questions my partner may ask. It is probably this mindset I have that led to the result of my conversation. You see I can’t predict the future of what may happen during our conversation. My partner may go into detail on the question, I probably have audio issues and my partner can’t hear me, or even I could panic and not give a response. There are a lot of outcomes that could happen during our conversation, because of this my mindset would lead me on into becoming nervous throughout the assignment. Though this assignment seems like a setback for me, I won’t be disappointed in the result of my learning. I did learn a lot of new French vocabulary and my knowledge of reading and writing in French has expanded dramatically. For example, I have learned that “Je me couche” means to I go to bed and “Je me réveille” means I wake up. This talk abroad conversation I had with my partner was a good experience for me. It shows that one should constantly practice French from time to time in order to be good at pronouncing your response, hearing other questions, and generating quick replies towards another speaker. I will say I have improved upon my critical thinking skills when thinking of a response towards a different question.
