• I think that the best thing a learner can do when navigating a new language, and certainly the best thing I can do for myself at this point in time as I continue to learn, is to acknowledge one’s status as a novice and to take whatever difficulties, embarrassments, or frustration that being on the bottom of the totem pole entails, in stride.

• There are many on-campus resources that one can use when it comes to language learning, and utilizing these is a great way to interact with the in-person rather than online.

• Exposing one’s self to things outside of one’s comfort zone, becoming comfortable with learning as one goes, and immersing one’s self in diverse environments or culture can rewire how one thinks, acts, feels, and learns.
