I am a first-year student at Old Dominion University. Outside of school, I love listening to music, reading, and watching movies. Some of my other hobbies include art, going to the gym, and playing piano and violin.

I have always felt connected to the French language because of the backstory of my name. My mom took French and high school and chose “Gisele” as her French name and loved it so much she wanted to give me the same name. Because of this, I was inclined to take French in middle school. Then, having to take a foreign language for my Bachelor’s of Arts degree, I chose French.

I think it is important to study a foreign language, primarily for cultural and social enrichment. There are other benefits to learning a foreign language, like general intellectual development, increased employment opportunities, and exercising memorization and problem-solving skills
