Cyber criminals are also often quite advanced with their technical skills thus leading them to be able to conceal their identity in more advanced ways. Traditional law enforcement agencies, like a local Police department, just do not have the resources, skills, or recruiting power to be able to combat these criminals. Secondly, there is a gap in our ability to combat these crimes as we are often taking a reactionary approach to new crimes that we aren&#8217;t prepared to fight. While we&#8217;re busy combating the previous cyber crime a new one is developed. In the reading &#8220;Cybersecurity and Criminal Justice: Exploring the Intersections&#8221; the psychology of cyber criminals and how they&#8217;re able to easily justify their crimes in a plethora of ways. Criminologists came to the conclusion that Cyber Criminals often minimize and justify their crimes. I believe the criminal justice system should attempt to create cyber units, it may be difficult for smaller programs to afford these units and I think attempting to train traditional police may be too cumbersome and their skills may atrophy after some time with no cyber crime. Perhaps a federalized law enforcement agency could spearhead a cybercrime unit such as the FBI, that way they can provide competitive pay and benefits for the areas and skills required.
