Prosocial behavior is defined as Actions by individuals that help others with no immediate benefit to the helper (Branscombe & nyla, 2016). In addition, empathy is defined as Emotional reactions that are focused on or oriented toward other people and include feelings of compassion, sympathy, and concern. Additionally, empathy- altruism hypothesis is defined as The suggestion that some prosocial acts are motivated solely by the desire to help someone in need (Branscombe & nyla, 2016). Lastly mirror neurons is defined as Refers to systems in the brain that appear to provide a neural foundation for our capacity to experience empathy. With that being said this is one of the reasons why I decided on the image below, because it is a representation of the definition of mirror neurons.

Aristotle once said that the best thing to hold onto in life is each other. In chapter 7 Introduction: Like, love and other close relationships, I have learned about the following terms: Relationships, Need for affiliation, Proximity and Physical attraction. It is stated that relationships are defined as social ties with other individuals, ranging from casual acquaintance or passing friendships, to intense, long-term relationships such as marriage or lifetime friendships (Branscombe & Robert, 2016). In addition, physical attractiveness is defined as the combination of characteristics that are evaluated as beautiful or handsome at the positive extreme and as unattractive at the negative extreme (Branscombe & Robert, 2016). As well as it is stated that proximity is defined as an attraction research, the physical closeness between two individuals with respect to where they live, where they sit in a classroom, where they work, and so on. The smaller the physical distance, the greater the probability that the two people will come into repeated contact experiencing repeated exposure to one another, positive affect, and the development of mutual attraction (Branscombe & Robert, 2016). Lastly the reason why I decided to choose this photo as a representative visual image is because it shows two people that are in a relationship. They say pictures are worth a 1000 words, and this relationship show this couple right here enjoying the beautiful sunset together.

James Forbes once said that “When people rely on surface appearances and false racial stereotypes, rather than in-depth knowledge of others at the level of the heart, mind and spirit, their ability to assess and understand people accurately is compromised (Forbes, n.d).” It is sad to say that although we have come a long way that we live in today’s society, some people are still stuck in the past. We should not just forget about what has happened to us in the past, but instead understand that some people are not like that any more, but also at the same time be aware that some people still are. Martin Luther King Jr once said that “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed — we hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” Some people treat other equal while other do not just because they are not the same ethnicity of them, and with that being said I learned the difference between, Prejudice, Discrimination, and Stereotyping
Prejudice is defined as negative emotions based on group memberships. While discrimination is defined as Differential (usually negative) behaviors directed toward members of different social groups, and lastly racisms is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized (Branscombe & Nyla, 2016). In our reading it was stated that 70 percent of black Americans say the police are doing a “poor job” treating racial groups fairly, while only 25 percent of white Americans agree with this assessment (Branscombe & Nyla, 2016). There are numerous of different situations where African Americans are treated unfairly. It has been reported that 164 African Americans were killed by police officers in the first 8 months of 2020, and this is still going on till this day (Cohen, 2020). This is why the movement Black Lives Matter was started, it is a movement that is to be dedicated to fighting racism and police brutality against. This is also why I decided to choose the black live matter picture because we are still fighting police brutality till this day.

Michael J. Gelb Once said that “Research shows that you begin learning in the womb and go right on learning until the moment you pass on. Your brain has a capacity for learning that is virtually limitless, which makes every human a potential genius (Mason, 2012).” This course is constantly feeding my mind with endless information that I never knew existed until the beginning of this class. I knew that going to school and continuing my education would be fun and informative, but I did not know that I would be able to use this information in my everyday life. For instance, this week, I learned about the Self-concept, which is defined as a belief that an individual holds about themselves and acknowledgment of other people. As stated in my assignment, pictures can tell a story and also tell you a lot about an individual.
With that being said, last week I learned the term Representativeness heuristic, that can be defined as coming up with a conclusion by connecting a current circumstance to one that represents a mental prototype, but in order to draw this conclusion, you have to compare the individual to a prototype. A prototype can be defined as a list of attributes commonly possessed by members of each of the occupations (Branscombe & Baron, 2017). As I stated before Pictures tell a lot about an individual and I am able to apply this week’s Information with last week’s information because by looking at my photo I am using prototypes to draw a conclusion about myself. For example, in one of my photos it shows me in scrubs, with a Sentara healthcare badge, and in another photo, it shows surgical instruments. Due to these traits someone could come up with the conclusion that I work in the hospital medical field and they could either be a Nurse, Xray tech, Surgical Tech, Surgical assistance or a doctor. With me learning this relevant information from this week modules and last week Could possibly be able to come up with my own conclusion of other people by looking at their photos.
