I honestly really enjoyed this class. I love sports, probably a little too much. Since I was a kid, I have watched sports on TV, on social media and where else I could find it. We got to talk about lots of different topics related to sports which is just honestly surprising. In past classes I have taken, you might take this class for a specific reason, and then once you get in the class it really doesn’t relate to what you thought the class was going to be at all. My professor was great. He is very fast to communicate. If you had questions sent in an email, he would reply typically very quickly. His instruction for online homework is very clear and not hard to understand.
We talked about a lot of different things. I think one of my favorite assignments was called, “Sport Journal Athlete Activism.” In this assignment we were tasked with talking about a time when an athlete stood up for what they believed in and did something about it. It was just a relaxing assignment to do because we are allowed to choose in this class and not be bored with being told exactly what to do.
One thing that I think will be valuable was the pen pal assignment. This assignment forced you to get probably out of your comfort zone and make a connection. Life is all about who you know unfortunately. Especially in the career I want to pursue. I want to be a creative director, and it is hard to get a job if you don’t have connections. So, this assignment not only made us gain a connection in the professional world, but it also made us learn about how someone got their job, and how they do their job and what they do. It can help prepare us for what is to come for our career path.
