Within the workplace, in a modern day sense, as the advent of cyber technology has offered unprecedented opportunities for enhanced efficiency, security, and connectivity; in addition to these beneficial aspects provided, opportunities for workplace deviance, have also too, been created. With this, as deviance refers to, and is defined as, behaviors or actions that violate and depart from social norms, expectations, and or standards within a particular group and or society, when considering the prevailing ways that in which, deviance in the workplace has occurred, in this regard, there can be lots to bear in mind. To begin, as the rise of cyber technology has enabled internet accessibility to be very apparent, this in turn has also facilitated Cyberloafing, which refers to employees using their work hours to engage in non-work-related activities on, throughout, and across the internet. With this, as this could allow for employees to easily engage in personal activities during their work hours, such that of browsing through social media, shopping online, and streaming content, this could certainly be an example of deviance within the workplace, as this misconduct could decrease productivity, as well as too diminish organizational efficiency, as ultimately, company time may be wasted. Beyond this, an additional way that workplace deviance could be initiated, due to cyber technology, could be seen within that of data theft, and or too, breaches. From this standpoint, given as cyber technology, especially within the workplace, has made way for sensitive company information, as well as too intellectual property, and or too personal data to be accessible to the employees; this could also potentially foster opportunities for workplace deviance, as with this, organizations could be subject to data theft, and or breaches, through attacks made by employees, such as that of phishing, and or hacking, and too, from unauthorized access to systems.
