All About Me

Hi, my name is Gavin Bacaoan. I am majoring in cybersecurity, and my favorite subject is mathematics because I am fascinated by how math connects to the field of cybersecurity, particularly in solving complex problems such as cryptography, data protection, and network security.

Outside of academics, I have two dogs, Suki and Scarlett, who keep me active and entertained. In my free time, I enjoy watching anime, snowboarding, playing video games, traveling, and spending quality time with my family. These hobbies allow me to balance my studies with relaxation and creativity.

In high school, I was actively involved in several extracurricular activities, including wrestling, Student Council Association (SCA), serving as a class officer, and the National Honor Society. Wrestling helped me develop discipline, resilience, and strong time-management skills. Through SCA and my role as a class officer, I gained leadership experience, improved my communication skills, and learned how to collaborate with others to represent student voices and organize school events. Being a member of the National Honor Society strengthened my commitment to academic excellence, community service, and integrity.

What excites me most about studying cybersecurity is exploring the mathematical foundations behind it. I want to understand how concepts like algorithms, statistics, and logical reasoning are applied to strengthen systems, analyze threats, and create secure solutions. My goal is to develop the skills to not only protect data but also to innovate within the field, combining my passion for math with my interest in technology.
