Emotional intelligence is something that I believe its not discussed enough. I did not know what emotional intelligence was until I was 19 and out of high school. It was something mentioned to me in therapy. I believe that emotional intelligence has a lot to do with self-regulation and oftentimes when someone speaks of self-regulation, they are actually meaning to speak on emotional intelligence. Being able to regulate one’s responses to one’s emotions is not the only key part of emotional intelligence, but is the most measurable and identifiable aspect of emotional intelligence. Someone who is known for repeated outburst and an aggressive “fight-or-flight” response in stressful situations will not bee seen as someone who is emotionally intelligent.
