Artifact 1

The item to archive that engaged me the most was archive 6, The Self Across Situations, for a lot of the same reasons I listed in the assignment for this week. I used to think I kept the same face, if you will, across situations in my life, but after reading chapter four of our text book, I realize the only person that could do this is a clown, and that is only due to his or her face paint. Who am I fooling? In the archive, I had to assess a few differing situation and how they revealed the different shades of myself. Supposedly I have many.

I chose five traits that I believed best fit my perceived idea of self and what about situations in which those traits had shown through. Then I was to keep a log over five days and analyze how I held up to these traits. One trait I listed was patient, and I indicated at work when clients came into the office, I was usually very patient and gave them time to fully understand their circumstances. I work in a psychologist’s office, and noticed one day my patience slipped. A mother and father were given paperwork for their child to be interviewed by the psychologist, however, instead of signing, they presented the paperwork back to me and said “We need to reschedule for another day.” I was so taken back that I just replied “Let me have your number so I can call you back to reschedule because it is hard to tell when we can fit you back in your schedule.” I felt bad that I was not as understanding as I usually am and I believe I visibly lost my patience.

I’m attaching a picture of a clown because I thought it would be humorous given an analogy I had earlier.https://pin.it/4fxZCB6
