As a musician, music is heavily associated and intertwined with my friends and loved ones. I have a lot of memories around certain songs that were playing at certain moments with these people, and so the songs and music I heard during memorable times has become the soundtrack for these memories. I believe because of my ties to music, and my friends’, we bond over similar songs and the stories behind them and share the same sort of catharsis when listening to them. I think there is a heavy association with music and those we love, at least I can say that for myself.
Soundtrack:
- “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue” by Marianne Faithfull – I listened to this on the way to a friend’s house consistently for 6 months.
- “Uncle” by Nicole Dollanganger – Me and a friend saw Nicole Dollanganger perform live once and this song became our favorite of hers
- “Celestial Blues” by King Woman – Me and a friend saw King Woman together and every time I hear this song I think of her.
- “Like a Prayer” by Madonna – My mother and I sang this song together a lot, so naturally I think of her when I hear it.
- “Tupelo Honey” by Van Morrison – A dear family friend of mine always requests this at parties.
- “Never Go Hungry” by Courtney Love – This song makes me think of myself.
Below is a picture of Courtney Love as she has had the most musical impact on me.
