Since fifth grade, this is the major I have wanted to pursue. In my class we did an activity about careers and when looking through the possible careers that would suit my abilities and aspirations, I found dental hygienist. I researched the career and found that I needed a degree in dental hygiene. Ever since then, I have wanted to be a dental hygienist and am pursuing a degree in dental hygiene. After knowing that I wanted to be a hygienist, I did a short observation period at a local dental office in my hometown where I was able to see if I truly wanted to pursue a career as a dental hygienist.
