My duties as a Parent Cafe Intern at the Children’s Health Investment Program (CHIP) include a variety of tasks meant to assist families and improve community involvement. Organizing assessment surveys, collecting participant comments, and entering the answers into the system for analysis are some of my primary responsibilities. In order to establish connections and promote partnerships that provide our programs with more resources and support, I also collaborate with nearby organizations. I also have a major part in organizing Parent Cafes, which are gatherings that bring together local families and parents by giving them a secure environment in which to exchange stories and gain knowledge from one another. I plan activities for children ages 12 and under while making sure they are entertained and well-cared for. Managing the logistics of these events, such as ordering and arranging the meals and taking care of the décor to make the space feel welcoming, is another part of my job. Last but not least, I design and manage a variety of organizational tools that support the department’s efficient and successful everyday operations. Along with these responsibilities, I also have to make sure that everything functions well in order to maintain CHIP’s community events’ overall functionality. This entails organizing volunteers, preparing event rooms, and making sure that all necessary supplies, including activity items and informational pamphlets, are ready ahead of time for the Parent Cafes. In order to keep people interested after events, I also help with attendance tracking and participant follow-up. I support the organization’s goal of promoting children’s health and well-being in the community by collaborating closely with the CHIP team and community partners to help create a warm and resource-rich environment for families.
