I had the chance to participate in a range of meaningful interactions and acquire important knowledge about community-based family support work during the final 100 hours of my internship with CHIP Parent Café. I collaborated closely with staff and parent leaders, attending team meetings, assisting with event planning, and supporting outreach initiatives meant to improve community resilience and parent-child ties.
One of my main responsibilities was helping to organize and prepare Parent Café sessions, which entailed getting supplies ready, setting up areas, and greeting guests. In order to enhance subsequent sessions, I also helped with follow-up activities like data entry, contacting families, and compiling comments. I also encouraged the creation of materials and pamphlets that addressed parenting techniques, mental health, and protective factors.
