I have learned many things this semester studying Immunology. This class goes into much more detail regarding the immune system than my other biology classes I have taken this semester. I have been amazed at the overlap between this class, Microbiology, and Advanced Human Physiology. As I progressed through this semester, I realized that sometimes, ignorance is bliss. From previous anatomy classes I thought I had a general understanding of the immune system. I was wrong. I had no idea of the complexity of the immune system. Previously we learned about B cells and T cells. That was it. Before this class, I had never heard of complement. Even after finishing the semester, I know I have only scratched the surface. Next semester I am taking Cancer Immunology. I am looking forward to continuing to learn the further intricacies of immunology. Beyond graduation next semester, I hope to attend medical school. This semester is the first one where I felt I was learning in depth about the human body and its processes. I look forward to learning more about the immune system next semester and further down the road.
