BLUF: As CISO, training and cybersecurity technology are both important as they serve great functions for a company.

Balancing Funds

As the Chief of Information Security Officer (CISO), it is of the responsibility of myself to ensure that funds are properly balanced between training and Cybersecurity technology. With this, I would note and organize the biggest features between the two. It’s important to assess them as to better concentrate on the most vital aspects of them. Additionally, looking and analyzing at the effectiveness and impact they have of the company is important. Training is crucial as each employee should be adequately knowledgeable about their fields, requirements, and procedures. And as for Cybersecurity technology, it is critical as online services and networks would be primary targets from malicious attacks, so, it should receive more specialized attention.

Allocating Funds

For distributing the funds, I would put about 35% towards training and the remaining 65% towards Cybersecurity technology. I chose these percentages as I believe Cybersecurity carries more weight. Most company information and data are stored online, whether it’s clouds or other methods. Therefore, it should have the most resources geared towards it. Security of data and information is absolutely necessary as risk and vulnerability can bring detrimental damage to a company. Inadequate training can negatively affect a company too, but not to the same extent. Nevertheless, both are important and play specific roles to ensure the integrity and successfulness of a company.

Conclusion

In conclusion, training and Cybersecurity technology both have their strengths. They are key pieces to the longevity of a company life, and should have sufficient amounts of funds to support them effectively. However, Cybersecurity technology should receive more as based on the necessity and significance of it.
