Top Artifact #1

For my first top artifact, I chose the item to archive in module 4. Out of all of them, I found this one to be the most interesting and appealing. Part of it is because I am a criminal justice major, and the video/item to archive dealt with topics in criminal justice. I also like to watch videos and such, so I found it appealing to me in that way as well. Overall, it was my favorite through modules 3-6.

I learned that the media is not what it seems. It can be used to manipulate people and put fear into them. The news being the main source of media in the video tricked people using representative and availability heuristics. It made people make judgments and made people think certain things were dangerous when they were not. It expanded my knowledge by letting me know that everything or most of the things in this world are subjective. There are always two sides to every story, and brings the question who do you believe? The media is a popular and powerful tool and brings up many different discussions and opinions to view. However, it may bring and spread false information as well, and it is important to stay away from that or gain knowledge on the true information.

Representative Visual Image:

I chose this image because when viewing the news or social media, have your eyes wide open. What I mean by this is do not believe everything you see in the media. Always do further research to get the full picture/answer to the story. Social media can be a great and wonderful thing but also an untrustworthy and nasty place.
