NICE Workforce Framework

To place the NICE Framework(National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education) in short
perspective, is a national resource tool to help employers or anyone involved in
cybersecurity standardize their knowledge of their cybersecurity work relatable to others
in the field, is like standardizing a common lexicon describing it to everyone regardless
of where and whom cybersecurity work is performed. The beauty of NICE is that its
framework is related across public, private and academic sectors.
The way the Work Roles Categories should be rank im my opinion are as follows:
1- Design and Development- Something has to be created
2- Implementation and Orientation- It has to be implement to test faults and direction
3- Oversight and Governance- Management
4- Protection and Defence- Develop protections
5- Investigation- After the fact, something happened
All the fields are important, there is such an array of fields and jobs available in
cybersecurity that makes it hard to choose. But to say the least my interest lies with
Oversight and Governance, most of my life has been in management and leadership
positions, so it comes easy when creating plans, training and strategies etc.
Another field I am very interested in when it comes to cybersecurity is Protection and
Defense, which means a secure job working for the government. My dream job is
working on cybersecurity in an US Embassy somewhere overseas, especially Japan.
Investigation Category comes to mind because I have a BS in Criminology, but
investigating cyber crime is just part of the job in cybersecurity so it goes hand in hand I
believe.
I don’t find any category that does not interest me, I am new in the field and I feel like a
kid in a candy store. Everything is part of a bigger picture and I love how everything
comes together, will see where this career will take me.
