{"id":195,"date":"2020-01-23T20:23:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T20:23:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/gpinternships\/?p=195"},"modified":"2020-01-23T20:23:34","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T20:23:34","slug":"norfolk-executive-internship-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/gpinternships\/2020\/01\/23\/norfolk-executive-internship-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Norfolk Executive Internship Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Internship Opportunity <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Norfolk, Virginia is seeking qualified graduate\nand undergraduate students for the City of Norfolk\u2019s Executive Internship\nProgram.&nbsp; The Executive Internship Program provides work-based learning\nopportunities for qualified undergraduate and graduate students with a desire\nto work in public service at the local level.&nbsp; The highly competitive\n10-week program is designed to offer students a unique opportunity to gain\npractical work experience, apply academic knowledge, build a professional network\nand access to resources for professional development that will enhance the\nintern\u2019s academic experience.&nbsp; Placement in various City departments\nallows students to make important contributions to the City through meaningful\nhands-on work assignments and projects that provide insight into the functions,\noperations and public policies of municipal government.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interns are afforded professional development and networking\nopportunities through a variety of events and workshops that allow students to\nconnect with various corporate interns and summer associates working in\nNorfolk. The program lays the foundation to encourage and prepare interns for\npossible careers in municipal government by obtaining a deeper understanding of\nthe public sector and the rewarding career opportunities in local government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 10-week paid internship position beginning June 8, 2020 \u2013\nAugust 14, 2020.
