Artifact 4: Module 4

This picture illustrates shows the other side of what media hype can do. People’s very lives were threatened because of how they looked or what country they were from based on nothing more than media stories that reflected the action of radicals who looked or sounded the same. The general public absorb the small amounts of information given without investigating the full story.

For several of these instances, my actions are aligned with my attitudes. I find that it is easier to ease the dissonance with things that I do occasionally, such as recycle or addressing homelessness. I think that the balance between attitude and behavior could be related to our need to be who and what we find ideal. One thing I struggle with is exercising. I know that I should be doing it regularly, however I always rationalize many reasons why I am too busy or tired to do it. I don’t really think that I can justify my lack of actions, but I do make a conscious effort to exercise more each week.

Also, giving of oneself creates happiness in others. Both the negative associated with a selfish attitude and the positive associated with giving multiply to the person giving and receiving.
