How textbooks want students think racism is old.

With the most recent Assignment 3, the takeaway was very limited. The only thing that was learned was that racial prejudice is still seen as a joke and can be used in comedy. This takeaway is different for people who are not considered people of color. Sure, they can talk about it and how they learned that racism is still used. Still, personally, being a person of color, I live it every day; I did not have to take away anything. The apology was not genuine; something a person says to try to get himself out of a situation. Racism is seen as a joke, and people thought it was in the past. Even in middle school, while talking about racism and segregation, one girl said, “well, MLK March was over 100 years ago, just get over it”. Some people agreed, and others looked at me. I went to a predominately white school, and people saw this as usual. History books are not helping either. The Martin Luther King Jr. march took place in the ’60s happened 70 years. My great grandfather was able to march with him. So, the answer to the question asked, what did I take away from this assignment? The answer to that is absolutely nothing.
