CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY

I’m doing my evaluation on the Christopher Newport University Community Engage Program specifically the P.A.S.S. program. The program identifies at-risk youth in the Newport News school system and helps kids transition from grade to grade through tutoring, campus activities, and mentor ship by student-athletes. I would like to know how it got started, how effective has it been, and if any student has gone to the University.

1. What are the goals of the program and has there been any resistance from the schools, parents, faculty, or the community and also what intervention tools this program used to match the needs of the people both inside of schools and at home?
