Parallel Major

Nursing is my current Major. So, I decided to continue with a parallel major in the Health Science field. Before I decided to pursue Nursing, I was on the fence between being a Nurse or a Physical Therapist.
EXERCISE SCIENCE (Physical Education, M.S.)
I choose Exercise Science as my parallel major because it its an undergraduate degree that I can use to get into the Physical Therapy (DPT) program. What interest me about this major is being able to study the movements of the human body, which is quite fascinating for me. In pursuing this career, my goal would be to get into Sports Medicine at CHKD as a Physical Therapist. Another route I would take with this major, would be to look into studying to become a Physician Assistant.
Interesting Facts:
- From ODU, there is a 93% graduate rate with an Exercise Science Major.
- Exercise science majors who work in the fitness industry earn a median annual salary of $39,210, or $18.85 per hour, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
