In todays world, it is sad to see how some areas are de-emphasizing how important music is. Music is one of the most important subject to keep alive in our schools. I plan to advocate for this in many different ways. I plan to have creative and enjoyable fundraisers that reach not only the community, but our own student body and faculty. One of these fundraisers can be paying 5 dollars to have a student teach about their instrument to another student and eventually teach and let that student play their instrument. This would be not only a great fundraising event but also a great recruiting event for our music program. I also plan to make sure everybody is invited into the music classroom culture, nobody will every be excluded. Anybody and everybody is welcome to join and try out any instrument they want. As long as they extend the welcomeness to everybody else they we showed them, they will always be welcome in the program. The third thing I plan on doing is having planned recruitment events. I have a couple ideas for this. I want to go out and play for middle schools that feed into our schools so that they hear what it means to be in our program. I also want to have an event where they can sit down and ask a member of our program what it’s like to be in our program. This would open a line of communication and spark and personal interaction with anybody who might interested. All of this is in hopes of building an unbreakable community that any administration will not be able to ignore.
