Artifact 5:
I did find differences in the amount of time I could wait for each person. The longest time I could wait is an hour and that is with my parents because I know they are busy and have a lot of important things that they need to do. The shortest amount of time I could wait is 10 minutes and that is with my siblings because they already take too long as it is. When it comes to my siblings I am not patient at all and will leave after 10 minutes of waiting past our scheduled meeting time.

I found out that majority of my responses were different than my moms. Some of our responses were the same, but others were different. When my mom was around my age most of the jobs were strictly male jobs. I think now as the world is changing people are viewing jobs differently than they did back then. Personally I think that most of the jobs I see women in that particular field just because women can do them equally as good if not better. My mothers reasoning was that when she was growing up most of the jobs discussed were known as male jobs and she only saw men doing them.

Artifact 2:
For this assignment I chose to take a picture of my elephant. I chose this item because ever since I was a little girl I have been obsessed with them. My grandma used to always tell me growing up that elephants are good luck and they give you wisdom and protection. They also give you strength and power. She told me that her mom used to always tell her that elephants are amazing animals and are a spiritual gift from god. I never really knew what she meant at the time, but now I see the importance of her telling me the things that she did. I believe elephants were put on this earth to give a spiritual connection and help guide us through the way of life with their wisdom and stability to move forward. Elephants represent my culture because everyone in my family has a glass elephant in their homes for good luck. The picture I have provided is just one of the many that we have in our house.
Artifact 1:
The United States scores on the five cultural dimensions compared to other countries are very different. The United States has the highest score for individualism/collectivism than any of the other countries. Power distance, uncertainty avoidance, masculinity/femininity, and long-short orientation are a mix of lower and higher but also average. I think compared to the other countries the United States is really big on individualism and collectivism. The United States wants to make sure that everyone can be themselves and not have to hide who they are based on their culture and religion. Although in other countries they may think some of the things we do are considered wrong and would be handled differently in their country, we still try to make everyone feel comfortable with their individuality.
I chose to compare Japan and the United States because I hope to travel to Japan one day. As you can see the United States and Japan have similar scores in the different values. I would say power distance is the closest in scores to each other. This means that the members of both countries agree that power is being distributed unequally in their countries. The United States and Japan have more differences than similarities and I think this is because of their cultural backgrounds and how they handle things differently based on the way they were raised and where the grew up.
