At the moment I am undecided as a major and I am taking this class to help me figure out what it is that I want to do major wise in college and occupation wise after college. However, not really choosing a major yet and exploring is actually a good thing in this instance for one main reason it gives me perspective in answering this question. In the past year and half of me being in college I have taken many different courses to help me figure out what I want to do with my life (major wise). What I have learned (besides the fact that I am not a person who enjoys philosophy) is that all majors relate to cybersecurity one way or another. For example, almost every major at Old Dominion University whether that be business, pre-med, law, etc will use linkedin or another occupation platform to apply for a job after graduation. In doing so they will be connected to the internet or a satellite which makes them possible victims of a cyber attack. Also, in the year 2021 everyone regardless of their major will use the internet for something pertaining to their major whether that be a research project, setting up a website for their business, or just communicating with a client or employer through text or email. Doing any of this will require an internet/satellite connection which means hackers will be able to attack and steal their information, destroy their computers, take them offline through denial of service attacks, etc. This is why and how I believe that all majors can relate to cybersecurity one way or another because they are connected to the world wide web and satellites which opens all these majors up to different malicious attacks from hackers all over the globe.
