Exploring Culture
I really enjoy learning about different cultures, and learning more about Spanish culture and how people say and do things is really interesting to me. Lingrolearning was the website that helped me gain a better understanding on learning more about the language and the culture.
Lingrolearning really helped better understand values and attitudes in the Hispanic culture because I learned how they use letters differently, say words differently, and even come from different backgrounds and how they greet each other. At first, it felt like a challenge, but in a good way! The challenges i faced revealed to me that learning a language can be a struggle at first, but once you get into the swing of things, it can make things easier!
Here is a link of an example of something I learned from a discussion board on how some people greet each other in Spanish communities: https://canvas.odu.edu/courses/120823/discussion_topics/413622?module_item_id=3358749
Engaging in Communities
The value of, and importance of, engaging in the immediate community and the global community is very important because you get to talk to others that know, or are learning Spanish. You also gain the knowledge of speaking in Spanish. The more you practice with someone, the more fluent you will be!

Interpersonal Communication
I completed many discussion boards and many Flipgrids that made the learning experience for Spanish better! I had conversations with my Spanish instructor which was a very fun thing to do! At first, I was a little nervous on how i would handle all of this, but as time went on, i grew to gain more experience and get better day by day learning this wonderful language.
It was difficult at first because I never thought that i would ever learn a new language. I used to beat myself up for getting things wrong. I realized that practicing makes everything easier and i have really grown to love and enjoy the assignments where i am responding to someone or speaking in Spanish as best as I can!
Here is an example on one of the videos I made on Flipgrid: https://flip.com/63175b7f
Presentational Speaking
I didn’t present that much, but what I did do was the Flipgrids. I thought those were really fun to practice speaking with someone and to present myself with the knowledge of the language that i got a chance to study!
Each presentation was different, but they were overall really fun! What challenged me was remembering what to say, but as I did more of the Flipgrids, I became more comfortable each time i recorded myself and spoke!

Presentational Writing
I really enjoyed writing in the discussion boards. I enjoyed voicing my opinions on different topics about Spanish culture. For the last discussion board, i even wrote in Spanish which was really cool because others also wrote in Spanish and i got to actually understand what they wrote!
This part wasn’t difficult because i truly enjoyed the discussion boards this year. All of the topics were really interesting to me, and i definitely learned something new along the way.

Interpretive Listening
I loved the listening activities because i got the chance to learn new words and how to pronounce them correctly. I learned how to pronounce vowels and specific phrases.
In Spanish 101, i got on Lingrolearning and that is where i got to really learn how to pronounce words and vowels correctly. It was a challenge at first because i used to beat myself up for saying something wrong, but as i listened to it over and over again it became more clear and natural to me! Interpretive Reading
One thing i read this semester were texts in Spanish. When you read the texts in Spanish, you can somehow naturally connect the dots to figure out what the words mean! I even read a calendar in Spanish too!
It was a little challenging because I now had to use my knowledge of the Spanish language to fully understand the texts, but with using context clues, it became smoother to read.
