Exploring Culture
I really enjoy learning about different cultures, and learning more about Spanish culture and how people say and do things is really interesting to me. Lingrolearning was the website that helped me gain a better understanding on learning more about the language and the culture.
Lingrolearning really helped better understand values and attitudes in the Hispanic culture because I learned how they use letters differently, say words differently, and I even learned about how they come from different backgrounds and I learned more about different countries this semester and that is what made it fun! This semester, it really made Spanish more easier to learn for me. The challenges I faced revealed to me that learning a language can be an interesting journey but once you get into the swing of things and study harder each day, you’ll see that it’s worth it in the long run!

Engaging in Communities
The value of, and importance of, engaging in the immediate community and the global community is very important because you get to talk to others that know, or are learning Spanish. You also gain the knowledge of speaking in Spanish. The more you practice with someone, the more fluent you will be!

Interpersonal Communication
For the first time this semester, I got to learn how to use TalkAbroad and this was very fun for me! Talking to your peers in your class is one thing, but talking to someone who lives in a whole different country can be a fun learning experience!
Talkabroad really helped me to get over the nerves when it comes to speaking a new language. I felt really confident after doing my first one this semester. At first I was scared because I thought I would fail, but i overcme this issue by studying and practicing over and over! One thing I will still work on is stuttering and overthinking my sentences. I learned that it is okay to make mistakes as long as I learn from it! Presentational Speaking
I didn’t present that much other than the TalkAbroad videos, but what I did do was the Flipgrids. I thought those were really fun to practice speaking with someone and to present myself with the knowledge of the language that i got a chance to study!
Each topic was different, but they were overall really fun! What challenged me was remembering what to say, but as I did more of the Flipgrids and practiced by myself, I became more comfortable each time i recorded myself and spoke!

Presentational Writing
I really enjoyed writing in the discussion boards. I enjoyed voicing my opinions on different topics about Spanish culture. For the last discussion board, i even wrote in Spanish which was really cool because others also wrote in Spanish and i got to actually understand what they wrote!
This part wasn’t difficult because i truly enjoyed the discussion boards this year. All of the topics were really interesting to me, and i definitely learned something new along the way.
Here is an example of the discussion board i did: https://canvas.odu.edu/courses/137472/discussion_topics/536434?module_item_id=4159839
Interpretive Listening
I loved the listening activities because i got the chance to learn new words and how to pronounce them correctly. I learned how to pronounce vowels and specific phrases.
In Spanish 102, i got on Lingrolearning and that is where i got to really learn how to pronounce words and vowels correctly. This semester, It was a challenge at first because i used to beat myself up for saying something wrong, but as i listened to it over and over again it became more clear and natural to me! Interpretive Reading
One thing i read this semester were more texts in Spanish. When you read the texts in Spanish, you can somehow naturally connect the dots to figure out what the words mean! I read more articles and read maps in Spanish as well!
It was a little challenging because I now had to use my knowledge of the Spanish language to fully understand the texts, but with using context clues and the vocabulary I learned along the way, it became smoother to read.
