Cybersecurity technology is a field that seems to always be growing and changing. This is exciting to me and is one of the main reasons why I am choosing to pursue an education in cybersecurity. I would say I am someone who gets bored of the traditional work settings. A career like cybersecurity seems to stray away from traditional in all instances. This field requires that you always be learning. Whether that be learning all the different methods hackers use to infiltrate companies or learning all the new technological aspects. For example, I know the cloud wasn’t always around in the tech world, but now IT professionals can get certifications specifically aimed for working in the cloud. One popular certification that I always hear about regarding the cloud is AWS (Amazon Web Services). All of my tech savvy family members tell me this is a great certification to have under one’s belt and I am sure more new and upcoming certifications will always arise in the future.

Cybersecurity is also one of those fields that seem to require problem-solving, analytical thinking, and a good sense of human behavior. That is interesting in itself. The field is like if a psychology field and computer science or IT field had a love child. While all those factors mentioned are big reasons I am interested, there are other plus sides to cybersecurity technology. Cybersecurity jobs are found anywhere and everywhere. If I wanted to move across the ocean I could. If I wanted to work for a company like Disney or Nike I could. I could even work for the government. Choices in jobs are abundant but so are the choices in roles within a company. One could be an ethical hacker, a cybersecurity engineer, or a manager of operations. That is just to name a few. The flexibility in cybersecurity technology is one of the best out of all the possible career choices. Overall, the field is just interesting, and I am excited to be learning all about it.
