Cyber technology has created an opportunity like no other for workplace deviance. One way cyber technology has allowed workplaces to deviate from the normal workplace setting is the constantly changing environment. An individual working in cybersecurity has to constantly be keeping up with policies, new standards, advancing technologies, new certifications, and new methods of attacks. So, if an individual does not want to have a routine job that is the same thing every day, then a career in cybersecurity is the right choice.

Another way cyber technology exemplifies workplace deviance is the opportunity it gives for people to work from home. The start of the pandemic allowed a lot of the country to get a taste of working from home, but cyber technology allowed individuals to work from home beforehand. I just can imagine that the advancements in cyber technology needed to make work from home secure have become better with time and will continue to get better. Sometimes working from is the only option for people and cyber technology gives people that opportunity.

While working from home is a plus, I think cyber technology has also allowed individuals to travel wherever needed more freely. There will always be somewhere in the country and even out of the country that has a job for those interested in cybersecurity/ cyber technology. For example, I know companies like GDIT have multiple sites across the country. Maybe one individual needed to transfer to a different location due to personal reasons. They can easily transfer because of the many options. Without cyber technology companies, I am not sure that companies would be able to have multiple sites. Cyber technology allows for more flexibility that you would not find in most jobs/workplaces. Flexibility is becoming important in today’s setting. People are starting to want something different than a traditional nine to five.
