I chose nursing not only because I grew up living in hospitals but because I want to help people. My mother was extremely sick when I was a child and the nurses and doctors treated me as if I was nothing, my goal is to help family’s get better not just the one person who is sick.

Parallel Plan:

My parallel plan would be Health Service Administration. I am interested in this career because it includes everything I love about medicine and adds more of the interaction between patients. One career I can do with this major is being a health manager. I personally think this would be a good major for me because I am able to lead people and being in a higher position would be nice. Being a Health manager you plan, direct and also lead the hospital in a good and positive direction. The advisor for this major is Jim Bellamy.

I choose this career because it is still related to the medical field which I love and it is also a nice way to lead people. I loved being a manager at my old job and having that chance to teach someone else and lead people would be nice. The additional classes I will have to take compared to nursing are more English, and no nursing classes. I can gain professional experience by shadowing someone in this field and even volunteering to be someone’s assistant over the summer.

If I do not make it into the nursing program I think this will be a very good backup option for me. I work hard and I like to lead people in the right direction. Knowing my skill set and strengths I believe I can excelle at this job.

My major is Nursing.
