1. Describe your current methods of study. How do you study for each class?  For each class I reread notes and look up practice problems if I need an example of what I am learning.    
   1. What specific techniques do you use in class? In class I color code my notes and write in both pen and pencil.  Pen: the term pencil: definition and I highlight the term as well. 
   2. What specific techniques do you use outside of class? Separate notebooks for each class and sticky notes with examples for each section.     
2. Identify one class in which you are doing well (not HLTH 101).  What study methods work best and why? I’m doing well in my dance and audience class and that is a class that doesn’t require much studying.  

STEP 2: IDENTIFY AND APPLY NEW LEARNING TECHNIQUES

1. Identify one class where you are experiencing challenges and address the following questions.  

Class: Chemistry  

From now on I will meet with one of my friends that excelled in Chemistry to get assistance as well as going to the tutoring center. 

Studying: I plan to study 5 hours for the class doing two 30 minute sessions a day going over notes and doing practice problems.

Curriculum: Currently I am struggling with the electron configuration in Chemistry as well as conversions of mass, volume, ect . I did not excel well on my first exam therefore I will be reviewing the aspects on that exam over again.

Monitoring

I should be studying more and going over the materials prior to every class compared to just reviewing for the exam.

I am not taking advantage of my opportunities but will be now, I will be getting extra help from a friend and going to a tutor. 

I don’t find myself struggling to have motivation it is more of I don’t have time to study all my class within the time given in a day.

I will be voicing my confusions with my tutor from now on.

My confusions on the material will be answered by the tutor.   

Evaluating 

My exam preparation did not do me much justice I should’ve spent more time reviewing the material and getting help on the things I struggled with. 

Next time I will spend more time studying with a friend rather than alone. 

I have not been able to look back at my answers yet but I believe my math calculations were incorrect.

I am still confused about electron configuration and how to convert measurements to other units.

Review at least 5 academic tips/resources listed here: https://www.odu.edu/success/academic/tips What is one new technique you could try in class to help you better understand the material?  I think a major tip I could use would be would be turning off and putting my phone away completely. I find that my phone is very distracting both in and out of class so by putting it away I think I will succeed better. 

2. What is one new technique you could try outside of class to help you better understand the material? I think something that will help me understand the material better would be finding a non distracting  and comfortable environment to review and do my homework. As well as having a study partner, I believe will be beneficial to me.
