I am enrolled in the Cyber Security Bachelors Degree program at Old Dominion University. I have been interested in computers and cyber security for as long as i can remember. In fact, I remember the stories form my parents on how at only 2 years old, I would give them plenty of trouble regarding computer use. No matter how they tried to physically stop me from turning on the computer and playing games online, I would work my way around it; figuring out which plug goes where, what side and where the monitor plug needs to go, etc. Not only this, but I was introduced to the world of cyber security very early, and I can still remember how traumatizing it was. If you, the person reading, had Avast! anti-virus back in, oh say, 2008, then you would remember that familiar sound of what sounded like the Russians had started flinging nuclear arms at America and the alarms were going off. As an adult, that sound could startle me and leave me with an unnerving feeling. As a child, it was no less than traumatizing for me. I spent hours researching what “CAUTION! A VIRUS HAS BEEN DETECTED!” means when it appears on your computer. Since then, I have been fascinated about computer security. I have gotten much experience through research essays, interviews, and specific classes made for computer science. However, I technically only received official experience through New Horizons, though it was very broad. Now, I hope to extend my cyber security knowledge through ODU.
