The classes that I am doing well in are my Statistics and Chemistry class and also this class,
I do really well in these classes because I try to listen attentively in class and take notes
where necessary. I also study on my own after my class to better my understanding of what
I’ve been taught. I also use academic resources like office hours whenever I need a better
understanding of the material.
b. In my learning styles self assessment I identified needing assistance in my History class, the
changes I have made in this class that has significantly improved my learning habits are:
asking questions in class, staying back after class to ask my teacher questions.I also spend
a great amount of time on the weekends studying the course material and watching youtube
videos on the course materials to help me gain a better understanding of what I’m taught. I
also made enquiries about the tutorial for this class which i will start going to next week.
Transition to college
a. The expectations I had coming to college were that these would be the best, most stress
free and gold glittering years of my life but when I met with reality all that glittered was
definitely not gold, it was stress. It’s not all bad but there are those days when everything
seems like it’s slipping out of control and also trying to get used to being in charge of your
life. All in all I love my bitter-sweet college experience, I love the friends I’ve made who’ve
made me wish I had met them sooner especially my roommate. I love the clubs I have
joined which is giving me my full college experience (and also keeping me sane). I love
trying new foods at the Broderick Dining, I love the privilege of being able to learn and
increase my knowledge whether it be from my peers or my professors. My experience has
indeed surpassed my expectations.
b. I live on campus in Gresham Hall (the ghetto). Moving away to come to college has actually
been really easy on me, I went to a boarding school almost all my life and then moved to
another country sorry continent for college, so I’m used to being away from my family. Do I
miss them? Yes, but it is what it is, life has to go on. I still do miss the early years of my life
with my parents, in Nigeria.
Major
a. I did not know that ODU’s nursing school is highly competitive, it only has 80 spots.
b. My heart is racing and I’m already scared which is good because its pushing me to study
harder and make sure that my grades stay good.
c. I don’t see myself doing anything other than Nursing which I think is bad because there
should always be an alternative.
Connecting to campus
a. Last week, I got an email based on my progress reports saying that one of my grades was a
C- and that i should pick up the pace and bring my grade up. I took to this advice and started
going for office hours during my freetime.
b. During my time here one thing that has really helped me is Academic resource counselling,
it gave me a chance to evaluate my progress and see what i can do to better my grades and
myself in general

Study Habitsa.
