About Me

Get to Know Me!

My name is Camille Hairston. I am 23 years old, and I am a senior this semester. My intended graduation date is December 2024. I will be obtaining a Bachelors in Health Sciences, Health Services Administration with a Minor in Management. After college, I have to plan to further pursue school again for an additional two years. Within the next two years or so, I will be applying to Physician Assistant School. It has always been in my best interest to provide care and to help others. I did not choose to pursue this career for the money, but more so to help improve the quality of health care, and of course the well-being and health of people. If someone were to ask me to describe myself in just three words. I would describe myself to be optomistic, hard-working and kind-hearted.

Internship Information

For my internship this semester I decided to intern in a hospital-based setting to help broaden my understanding of the administrative side of healthcare within a hospital. I choose to intern at a local hospital, Sentara Careplex Hospital. Located in Hampton, VA. The type of organization I will work with for the next three months is referred to as Guest Services. The Guest Services department purpose is to provide patient advocacy. There jobs, and now myself include providing patients will a warm welcome, assistance within the hospital, clinical naviagtion, and the wealth of patient support information. My preceptor Mr. Jerry Kellam, Manager of Customer Operations. He has 22 years of experience in healthcare. He is responsible for handling all patient advoacy and ensuring that all patients are satisfied with the care from Sentara. More so non-clinical patient care. For instance, he strongly implements the idea Afforable Care Plans (ACP). The plan is explained to all new, incoming patients inquiring how they want to manage care for themselves.
