For my interviewing a health professional assignment I decided to interview Sheila Pahuyo, a registered medication aid and ex stewardess. Sheila got her bachelor’s of science in the Philippines before moving to America where she got a CNA certification and certification to be a medication aid. She is currently working at Baylake Assistant Living, a retirement home. She believes that her work has implemented various sustainable practices by turning away from traditional vices and looking towards electronics and technology. However, she believes certain aspects of her workplace are unsustainable such as staffing. She believes more staff would alleviate a significant amount of stress existing in the work environment. Lastly, Shelia offers advice to those pursuing health care professions. She emphasizes how empathy and passion are the key to success in health care. This interview has helped me learn that there are various paths one can take to secure a health-related job. It is good to obtain as much experience as possible so that you may find a career most suited for you.
