I learned what palliative care means and what it takes to take care of patients in that type of care. I have learned how hospitals stay sustainable in different ways. She talks about how they reuse the bed sheets, and they used to reuse the food trays before Covid-19. I found it interesting how people who have leftover flowers from a wedding or funeral would bring them into the hospital for the sick patients in the palliative care unit. I have also learned that nursing isn’t a one-person job. it’s a group effort, and you will always have someone there to help you with anything. She also talks about hospitals could have automatic lights for when you enter and exit from a room. I think that’s a great idea to have since nurses are always busy and they have to be in and out of rooms fast. This will also help conserve energy and help with the energy that is already being used in the rest of the hospital. One of her challenges that she mentions is seeing patients pass away. Working in this care unit you are helping patients feel comfortable while their days are coming to an end. Some patients can go to this unit if they’re really sick or need to be looked after really close, but they can soon leave once they start feeling better.
