Why I chose ODU: I chose ODU because it’s a school that is affordable and offers so many opportunities to students. I also love the area and love how close the campus is to the city and the beach. I’m from the area, so when it came to finding a college to pick, I knew that I didn’t want to leave the beach and the friendly environment.
Interests/Hobbies: I enjoy reading, art, going on adventures with my friends, and spending time with my family.
What I learned from this project: When researching for this project, I knew that the Vietnam War was very traumatizing for those who served in it, but I wasn’t fully aware of the extent it went to. My grandpa fought in the Vietnam War as a Marine and I could never ask him about the experience since he still battles with PTSD. By spending my time researching, I learned that veterans dealt with a lot of struggles physically and mentally, and the government was difficult to recognize these veterans’ troubles. The government did do some things to help the veterans, but the process of being recognized by the government for benefits was extremely difficult to prove.
